| How has everyone been dealing with this recent cold front? What tactics have worked or not worked for you over the last few days, what tactics would you be using if you were headed out today? |

| I usually will fish a river on cold fronts and I will use glide baits (hellhound or phantom). Rivers generally don't get affected as hard as lakes do with weather. If the glide baits fail, I will usually start trolling, or fishing deeper with bulldawgs. Not saying this is the right way, just generally how I attack my fishing. Musky fishing is a new puzzle everyday, just try to put the pieces together. Another option is to fish slop. You can use safety pin spinnerbaits or weedless spoons to rip on top of heavy weeds and drop it in holes or breaks in cover. Sometimes the fish will sit really heavy in weeds in cold fronts. |

Location: Apparently where the Muskie aren't | Does anyone ever jig spinnerbaits? I know it sounds a little crazy but that's one of my favorite cold front bass techniques and was wondering if it translates to musky. I don't mean verticle jogging but casting the spinnerbait way out, wait for it to hit bottom, and then rip it up and let if fall back to the bottom (and repeat). Anyone do that? |

| I know I'm not really answering the op's question, more like adding on to it. But something I've been wondering too. Would I be correct in thinking that a cold front later in summer, after water temps have been high and stable, would bring the fish shallow to find more comfortable temp? And a cold front now when water temp has not been very warm for long would send the fish deeper? |

Location: SE, WI. | YES! Jigging spinnerbaits works for All Gamefish. Fishing a creature spin is pretty much the same thing, Only less hassles getting through weeds! JD

| I drove a long way to fish a lake I had heard was hot with a topwater bite. The cold definitely slowed them down, but topwater was still moving fish. Just had to have lazer accurate casts to get them in on top of cover. Whopper ploppers FTW when bashing into docks, rocks, and trees. Too bad I didn't get hooks into any of them  |

Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Grinding spinnerbaits work when fish don't move out of cover to chaise baits. I like to position my boat along the outer edge of the thick weeds and cast out. Let the spinnerbait drop until it hits the bottom and start your retrieve while pointing your rod at the bait. When you feel a weed, snap the rod up and continue as you were. This disturbance will likely trigger bites as the bait in in their face. Finish off with a deep figure 8 or oval and hang on. Lots of times the muskies come straight up and smash it without even seeing them. |
