just got a shock and awe from Chaos and wondering what reel I should put on it. I would be throwing anything from mid medussas to monsters and mag dawgs to pounders. the three reels I am leaning towards are the tranx 500, tranx 400, and revo toro rocket. Just wondering what everyone out there is using. I like my abu beasts so thought maybe the rocket would be the way to go, but I'll see what you all have to say.

Thank you in advance for any feedback.

I don't think it matters other then pick one that has a reputation for not freezing in November when you do a lot of rubber fishing,,unless your going to straight reel them you mostly just lob them out and use the rod for the action,,I've used pounders on 6500's calcuttas,Saltist, ticas and some I can't remember,,having said that just a plain Abu 7000 is one of the best reels at staying ice free pretty strong and is cheap by today's prices.. looking at your current arsenal looks like you can afford anything so go with the best weather proof.

I like the 500hg. Couple of cranks and all the slack line is gone.

I just bought a Lexa 400HD with the same rod. It's awesome so far

I use a tranx hg, with the spool filled about 3/4. Also I had a double paddle handle put on it in place of the power handle as I prefered that type for throwing other stuff w the same set up...

Were you able to get the double paddle handle right from shimano or a musky shop?
How much larger on the rod is a tranx 500 than a revo toro beast? Currently have the high speed beast and I like the size of it.

daves reel service in IL put it on for me, I think it is a Daiwa Lexa handle he had to tweak.
