| Thanks mnmusky! Congrats to all those that caught fish. Just flat brutal results for 570+ anglers. A bunch of lakes not represented or poorly represented combined with a real lack of big fish. I hope this had everything to do with the weather and not the current status of the metro fishery.

Location: MN | I believe the conditions played a huge factor on the results. We got blown around on Waconia for a few hours before throwing in the towel and switching lakes, got blown around there too. The wind put extreme limits on boat control and fishable areas, forcing the majority of boats to stack up in any slack water spots they could find. There were 2+ ft. rollers on the lake by 10 a.m. Feel bad for anyone fishing out of bass boats today... |

As for the metro fishery, I believe it's the latter as well.
I believe the best way to fix this is to acknowledge that it only survives due to stocking efforts, therefore increase stocking, opportunity (add months to the season) and numbers of anglers participating. In this state you cannot keep a fish under 55, at most lakes. More anglers fishing for muskie is not a bad thing.
My wife and I did leave the lake at 11:30 because of weather. We saw one very large muskie.
I do not believe my thoughts on increased opportunity are not popular among the people that could make it happen.

| 572 anglers was a new record,,and we got a nice list of volunteers for helping net muskies this fall in the reading pond.

| We fished Tonka both Friday and Saturday. Friday was sunny and 86 and we found muskies willing to follow (15) but not bite. The wind was average and you could see them coming in from 15 feet or more. We woke up Saturday thinking we had them located and confident they would hit since it was a full moon with several moon phase times available during tourny times. 6:00 came and the wind was already 15 mph + and the wind was blowing east south east. Saw only 3 fish mostly because the winds kicked up beyond 20 mph and the boat traffic was nuts on points. Had a 50+ fish working 2 or 3 times that day but would rise and then turn off at boat. The floating weeds preventing any kind of effective trolling so we relied on casting wind blown structure. 571 anglers and 21 fish over 40 so we licked our wounds and considered ourselves losers along with 97% of the other participants.  |
