Posts: 105 Location: Jane Lew, WV | I had a very good evening after work earlier. I went out to one of the local lakes and ran out to a dock and picked a friend up. It had been overcast all day and that continued into the evening, with a storm missing us to the south. I hadn't made 5 casts when I got smacked on the cast. A 36 was enough to make me happy for the evening but it got better. Around 40 minutes later, after telling my buddy we've seen fish in this spot, I get smacked again. 30.5, awesome. That now made a handful of two fish days. There is more. 35 minutes later, halfway in, I get smacked again - but this one had a little bit more to it. Bumped 44. They all ate the same bait, a hellbender. That was my first three fish day, I am on cloud 9 brothers. Posts: 61 Location: Morgantown, WV | Sounds like you were dialed in! Right time, right place, right old-school presentation. I'd like to try those in the river. What kind of retrieve do you recommend?

What kind of retrieve do you recommend? I like to give it a really hard rip followed by a 2-3 second pause. They are great river baits. Probably work really well in that rive up by you. Posts: 61 Location: Morgantown, WV | I'll have to try to get a few. I initially thought you were talking about the hellbender crankbait. I've heard those are good for trolling and fishing timber.
