Not fishing the Madison PMTT event and ultimately the dry mid-summer no-fishing lag during July and much of August due to the extremely high water temps... The "not getting out enough" is a tough pill to swallow, but becoming a Dad this year and spending that time with my family made it go down easier.

That's an easy one this year. Having my terrova deploy in 3 footers going 30mph and having it snap off the front of my boat and drop down to the bottom of the lake. That one will haunt me every year.

Not going to LSC this year. Other than that it was a great year. Caught a New PB can't complain

...the 50" class fish that came in hot to the 8 at dusk on Vermilion in August, went around and around, and then sank out of sight...

I have 2 chewing at me ... First one was 55" ish ate a #5 mepps on a figure 8 on bass tackle. Set the hook hoping to break the rod or line. The musky walked me around the boat 3 times turned it's head and spit the lure....:(

Was throwing a minnow bait set the hook could not move it. The fish came up out of the water( looked like a 5 gallon bucket)
shook it's head 4 or 5 times and swam away try again this year

That happened to me 6 years ago! Mine stayed off the bottom though. Transducer and power cords saved it...and Mom lots warrantied the parts!

Fished a U.P river last August. I don't get to do much "real" muskie fishing, I live in S.E Michigan without a boat. Was able to put my brothers Porta Bote on top of my Focus. Had at least 12 follows but could only convert one. Ironically, the one fish I did catch I didn't even see. Even after reading many articles on converting follows, whether on here or musky hunter and such, I couldn't help but freeze when I saw a giant ski' following my lure. After several follows I was finally able to dial in but to no avail. It's a bittersweet moment because the one fish I did catch was my first, and only, Musky. Only 28 inches but man did it take a load of my shoulders after more than a year of trying to catch one. It still kills me I missed so many opportunities but, I'll be back this October with hopefully better weather conditions and some real experience under my belt, confident I'll top my PB and at least double my catch total of 2016.

Not getting on the water in Sept or Oct. I spent all of my free time with a bow in a tree stand and blew a golden opportunity on a nice 8 point. 1 Oct day, sitting there in mid 60's degree temps I realized that I should've gone fishing. Worst of all, my muskie fishing partner was sitting at home with ruined transom. Fall 2017 will be different.

I think I saw that same one too! Been digesting all the posts about figure-8'ing ever since...

Fished in Northwest Ontario with 2 other guys for 4.5 days and had about 30 follows and 2 fish in the net. Neither of them being my fish. Suckhole. Last night of the trip i went out fishing with a guide who is also a friend i have known for a few years. He had a 53ish inch musky pushing a huge wake following his bucktail. Biggest fish i have ever seen. Just as he starts his first turn, an 18" northern comes out of nowhere and t-bones the bait. Bye bye huge musky.
