| Anyone have or fished out of the “Lund 1400 Fury”? Thinking about it for the days ahead. Need something small enough that I can easily handle it at the launch with waders by myself and can use my fairly new 20 HP Honda on the boat and still get up to a descent speed. Thoughts about sturdiness, how well it handles the waves (for a small boat), nice casting range – access from the seats (too old to stand and cast). |

Location: Mt. Zion, IL | Dad has a 2007 1625 Classic which is very similar to the Fury 1600. It is very stable in reasonable waves for a 16' boat. The front deck is too low IMO to cast for muskies from a seated position. The gunwhales are over knee high on the front deck. That would eliminate any figure 8 for me. Dad has a 25 3 cyl suzi 4 stroke on his and it gets to about 25 with two guys and light gear. I would definitely go 16 over 14 any day. If you get a roller trailer with a front ladder and an electric winch, you can launch the boat very easily anywhere. I have a 16.5' alumacraft on a roller trailer and we launched it in a pond last year with minimal effort. |

Look at the alumacraft escape in the 14ft just another option good front deck for a 14ft Crestliner also males a nice little 14' tiller. The front deck sits a bit higher than the lund and alumacraft. I can't imagine any of these wouldn't work for you. |

Location: St. Lawrence River | I too recommend a 16'. It's still a small manageable boat but it will be so much better in waves and will have pretty decent stability. I've got a 16'9 Lund Tiller, it's pretty light very easy to maneuver alone. 83" beam it's stable as heck. |

Location: new richmond, wi. & isle, mn | My dad's last boat was a 1600 fury. Had a 40hp console.Nice little boat. He bought it when he was 80 for its ease of handling. Comfortable boat to fish out of. His words were, " Perfect old timer's boat. I'm done fighting this lake (mille lacs) when it's rough". Lightweight easy boat to launch and load.
Edit..... He'd traded in his big Lund fisherman with the intention of not testing the pond anymore.

| Since I plan to power the potential craft with my fairly new 20 HP Honda (not buy a new motor), it's not enough HP for 16' boats. Only a few possibilities really exist and not all those are sold with 100 miles of me. The 1400 Fury at 14.5 feet 70" beam and the MirrowCraft145T at 14.5' and 76" beam are the primary candidates. And the Mirrowcraft dealer is ~ 100 miles away. Even the Crestliner 1450 is to big and heavy for the 20 HP motor. Plus I have limit space at the house for storage and the longer trailer associated with a 16' boat could be an issue.
Until then I will have to keep fishing out of my glorified runabout at 14' 70" beam which with all work I've but into it isn't a bad little fishing boat but still has the utility boat limitations. Thanks for the input.

| I run a 16 foot fury and was originally going to buy a 14. I ended up with a 16 for a few reasons. So maybe this could help you.
1. There is only about 20lbs weight difference.
2. Here in PA you have to wear a life vest at all times in vessels under 16 foot. May be different in your location.
3. Pricing is about the same.
That being said I love the boat for the smaller lakes I fish. I load and unload the boat with ease using my waders and I fish alone 80% of the time. Boat is holding up very well and is used a lot.
One thing I would suggest is the upgraded Fury XL trailer. That trailer has a U shaped rear cross bar that makes for easier loading and unloading by yourself. The standard trailer crossbar is straight across and makes loading more difficult on shallow ramps. Hope this helps...

| Oh and I can run up to 13mph on gps with a 9.9 motor, so a 20hp should push it above 20mph. |

| Thanks for the input in both PM and in the tread. I just bought the Lund 1600 Fury 16' 2" with an oversized trailer that rides lower and makes for easier launching. Between your input and that of the Lund's dealer I became convinced that I can easily launch and load alone even without a dock. |
