You must not have a Lab Retriever roaming the house.

No lab... We're still arguing over whether to get a chessie, a chocolate lab, or a black lab.

We do have the laziest cat on the planet. And when I say lazy, I'm talking about "lie on the floor and scoop the food out of your bowl with your paw so you don't have to get off your fat ass to eat" kind of lazy. Not too worried about the tree.

And you have that big fiberglass storage box in the garage for all the ornaments!

That's what I said:

At least the ****ing lures are getting SOME ****ing use! If I ever ****ing FISH again, maybe they'll be used for the purpose for which they were intended!!!

Needless to say that did NOT go over well...

Some day, maybe I'll get to the point of being able to tell people what they want to hear. Not holding my breath...

The ball was gently placed on the tee, and you crushed it.

Addict: Get a Chocolate female and you won't be sorry. Had all other Lab combo's except a Chessie (hear you have to get their attention with a 2 X 4 and then tell them what you want) and Mocha Jean is the BEST!

If you don't have time to get the boat out, even for a few hours, you don't have the time for a Chessy. Great dogs, but they are a lot of work to train. Labs can be, if you want to use them to their potential.

If you are a hardcore waterfowler, the chessie is the only way to go imo. I've had labs and chessies both, no comparison when it gets to be late season and there's ice forming on the lakes. I've seen labs refuse to go in the water when my chessie will break ice to make a retrieve. As far as temperament, a lot of it has to do with how they are raised and trained. I know when I have to get another dog it will be a chessie, no doubt.

Totally agree. But considering Jeff wasn't able to get his boat out for even an hour, a Chessy isn't the dog for him.

What is a different approach were taken in training the dog ? For example, the dog could be trained to drag his owner to the water...

Poor dog would just lay there and stare at the door to the garage.

In order to launch the boat, the dog would have driving abilities. I think Jeff would often be wondering where the dog was....

So what makes a Chocolate special it's my understanding that Chocolate, Black, and Yellow can come from one litter.

Watched my son in law carry the body of Ben his old Black lab into the duck pond for burial . He hasn't hunted since. They now have a female Golden Retriever great kids pet and family dog whose only interest is in being spoiled.

My daughter learned to walk hanging on to the tail of a huge German Shepard. We lived on a road with no other houses ( 18 now ) but never worried about the two of them playing out side.

Definitely get a dog! Will be one more reason to not take the boat out. Eventually I will then be able to buy a never used in the last 5 years boat and re-sell for a profit!

I managed to train the dog to drive the truck with the hope she would back the trailer in for me. Turns out she was hanging out with the wrong crowd and lost her license after being stopped with a large amount of "white powder" in her possession. She tells me she can quit anytime she wants, but I'm not so sure....
