Posts: 7 | Tigers have been on my bucket list for quite sometime now and I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction here. I plan on taking a dedicated trip for Tigers this year. I was thinking of either Pineview in Utah, or Bluewater in NM, but seem to get stuck in picking which one would give me the best shot at one. Or perhaps there is a better water out there to be targeting them in? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Posts: 386 | As far as population goes, Bluewater seems to have an abundance of tigers. Sounds like they will be reducing the amount stocked there due to an overpopulation. Plenty of YouTube vids of multiple fish outings and one where 3 fish followed a fly up to shore, pretty cool. I haven't looked into Pineview as much, what I have seen it seems like they may run a bit bigger than Bluewater. I'm sure this is already on your radar, but the timing of your trip will play a factor too. Good luck to you.

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Newton reservoir in Utah. Get a few under your belt there then head to Pineview or Joe's Valley. If you can't catch one at Newton, just quit the sport. Even the bass and trout guys catch them there.

Posts: 343 | Sir; Newton Reservoir hasn't had any tigers for several years, they plan on stocking 2000 fry this year. Blue water in New Mexico is your best bet to catch a tiger. Pineview is a good reservoir for a shot a huge fish. Joes Valley can be tough to fish. Good luck!
