Location: Detroit River | The time that you are coming is usually a transition period & the fish are more scattered. It might be wise to hire a FULLY LEGAL guide for a day or two help narrow things down for you. 
As for baits, bucktails (double 8's & 10's), regular Medussas, the various Bondy baits, Shadzillas. 8" Storm Kick'n Minnows are the baits I wouldn't be without.

Location: Lake Country, Wisconsin | No reason to go to the US side unless winds make it a necessity. Pick an area like Thames, Belle, Ruscom and divide and conquer until you find a pattern |

| are detroit river and anchor bay viable spots that time of year? We have a house by Thames River so will be certainly hitting that area. thanks for the information so far guys

Sure they are viable if you want sub 40" fish. Don't try biting off more than you can chew. Stick to the water that's near where you are staying.

| Don't worry about Detroit River. Still too early for fish to migrate to Detroit River unless water temps start dropping to around that 50 degree mark. Focus on where your staying. Plenty of fish along the miles and miles of South Shore |

| good to know. we will stick to that area. any recs on if weather turns ugly besides buying a 30 pack and sitting at the docks haha. smaller lakes, protected areas etc. also any preferred patterns, colors or baits to keep in mind? thanks a lot guys |

Location: oswego, il | You can launch and stay in the Thames when it is windy. Not many fish in there until fall. You can drive around to the south channel and launch too, a bit farther. |

If trolling, all four could fish with the guide. Look up Rampage or Drifter Too Charters. Both leave from the Thames.

| Going on a trolling charter will help u narrow in on the areas they are fishing and likely catching. Then u can cast the next days after that. The charters mentioned are a great choice. They r good. There are a few inexperienced / rookie guides on the lake now. They may be good but I would spend money on Drifter or Rampage. They have BIG boats and catch a ton.

he is a great fisherman and will show you a ton. I have fished with him he is a blast.

| Depends on the wind direction...being by the Thames and your boat size you don't want a big N/NW or NE wind. It'll make tough to go anywhere if it's really blowing. Honestly...your #1 goal should be the stay along the Southshore and find pods of bait. Once you find bait then focus hard on that area. When you start to not see any bait, pick up and move. If your chasing "lake fish" then you need to know these fish and the bait are constantly roaming and moving. They can travel miles overnight. Being by the Thames you notice the water out into the lake is very stained which is great! LSC is super clear water most areas. You wanna find stained water. The bait will hide or move into the stained water for protection. The Muskies follow. Your timeframe depending on weather can be a little challenging. It's kinda in the middle of a transition phase and the fish are moving a lot! They aren't as packed in as usual like summer, spring or late fall. My best guess for now without knowing how the weather will be at the end of this month or early October is to focus on the 10-14' depth and just find bait. Remember...LSC has VERY gradual contours. You can be at 14' and go 2-3 miles or more to get to 10-11' depth. When in lake use the wind to your advantage and drift with it covering as much water 360 degrees as you can. When you find good pods of bait then make sure you mark it and focus on the area. |

| The last post made a good point, gradual contures. I fished an all species tournement when I first moved to detroit. I traveled a long way from the landing and it seemed to me the bottom was flat as a table top. After the tournement a lot of the anglers said the fish were stacked on the break. I said what break, there was no break. They said yes there is a sharp distinct break where it goes from 12 feet to 13 feet. I said you got to be kidding me, a one foot break? They weren't kidding.

Location: Wisconsin | Fish the dirty water, and find shad schools. That time of year I would focus In the south central part of the lake on the Canadian side. Bait should be higher in the water column so fishing could be great for reg medussas |

pretty excited to be heading out to LSC this Friday! Good to hear you are on your way.Looks like the weather will be a mix of sun and cloud with temps ranging in the low 70's to high 80's as the week progresses.Where will you be launching from?
I may be heading that way this weekend and fishing from St.Clair Beach towards the Detroit River area.

I hear ya,...actually I prefer the overcast rainy fall weather when hunting for Muskie this time of year.I have had some of my best Muskie days when like this during late September to late October.It seems to trigger the dinner bell for those big females.
