Location: Eastern Ontario | In reviewing some of the underwater video taken with my Waterwolf camera this past summer I can clearly see the invisible flourocarbon leaders.

Location: Eastern Ontario | I never really bought into the invisibility thing and only started using flouro because it did less damage to a rolling fish than wire. Recently i have been using 130 pound saltwater leader mono. No issues but i keep an eye on it.

To me the advantage is that if I do have a back lash, I don't snap the lure off. Had that happen with a brand new lure and went to flouro. Seems to give just enough. I know a lot of posters say they don't get back lashes, but I do from time to time and lures are expensive for an old retired guy. Edited by North of 8 12/16/2016 4:58 PM

I had snapped it on and without thinking starting casting, despite a big difference in weight between the new lure and what I had been casting. The snap broke on the back lash and the new lure made a lovely arc against the blue sky and sank in 10 feet of water.

The snap broke on the back lash and the new lure made a lovely arc against the blue sky and sank in 10 feet of water. I have gone away from Flourocarbon after having a complete bite-through with 130lb fluorocarbon. I went back to steel leaders that I make myself, but instead of using a snap, I use a solid weld O-ring. Then each lure has a split ring on it to attach to the leader from there. If the leader material is thick enough, i will go split ring directly to the loop on the leader. I went to this method after having a few snaps fail just from fatigue. A snap is much like a paper clip. bend it enough and it will begin to weaken and break. I don't want to take that chance, even though I could replace snaps really often to try and avoid it... I have not had a failure since I have changed to solid wire and split rings... Steve

Jake your in good company Hoser has been using it for 20 years. Now that I'm completely out of flouro I will be using hard mono for trolling and solid wire for casting leaders. Billy you will be so busy guiding this year I'll have to do all my fishing out of my boat so if I want to wear tights I will. Edited by horsehunter 12/21/2016 9:51 PM
