Posts: 44 | I have recently tried powder painting blades. I've got it covering good, but my problem is when I let the blades cool I can scrape the paint right off. Do they need to cool longer? Is the too much or too little heat, or is it because I'm not curing them in the oven. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Posts: 2016 | Etch the blades... I can't get it even, but soaking them in krudcutter helped make them more durable. Also, ake them afterwards.

Posts: 44 | Got it dialed in now. Cured them and it worked perfect. They don't chip at all. Threw them against the ground and nothing. Now going to practice designs

Posts: 44 | Can't get it to upload on photo bucket or image shack. Here's a link to them on Facebook. First 2 I've done and cured. have more made just haven't done the whole process. I'm happy with the way they turned out. Nice flate coat that is crazy durable. Want to start doing blades that I can only find in silver and brass. Hope to start practicing designs soon. https://m.facebook.com/CCB21X/?ref=m_notif¬if_t=like

Posts: 44 | I use the air gun and air pump from tjs tackle. Once you get it to the correct settings it works great. Also pretty inexpensive http://tjstackle.com

Posts: 34 | Your blades look great. I have had problems getting powder to cover blades consistently using the spray gun. I think the blades are cooling to fast. How are you heating the blades and keeping them warm while spraying?

Posts: 44 | I use a standard heat gun. Bought it in the paint section at home depot for $25. I put the gun on high heat. I hold the blade close for about 8 seconds. Spray the blade and go back over heat for 3 seconds. The biggest thing is getting the powder flowing. My trick is to only fill the bottle a 1/4 of the way. Before you spray shake the gun to loosen up the powder. You may need to give it a couple shakes while spraying.
