What does everyone take for baits when fishing in someone else's boat? 10, 50, 100??? What do you do with an old bait when changing to a new one? Leave it out to sharpen, dry, etc? Or back in the box? I have way too many baits that I never throw to take them all.

I usually take around 20-25 with me when fishing with someone else.
I typically put lures back when switching. I don't like them laying around the boat.

On a little evening trip? I take maybe 5 baits and call it good.

what Kirby said...if I'm hopping in w another buddy for a half day or less I take 2 rods and 5 baits... as I know my buds pretty much have anything and everything I'd want to throw...I can beat up there baits!

I have a shimano bag that holds 7 large Plano boxes. I may fill it, I may not, it depends on where we are fishing it's about being prepared and having the right tools. Some lakes you know well and may only need a few for that given time of year, others you might cast or troll and the bait diversity of what may or may or may not work much greater.

I have 2 boxes and my smaller one holds 20 baits so that is what I grab. Now that I think about it though I would love a smaller bait box that holds 5-10 not just for going out with a buddy but for a quick after work trip.

For those of you taking only 5 or so baits how do you carry them?

The Lakewood Pedestal Pal is a great solution for this. It also is a sure way to ensure proper release tools are wherever you go.

I usually pack a couple Plano boxes with an assortment of favorites - after doing a quick check on the structure and features of the water we plan to fish. (As a host, I think one should always give a guest a few suggestions on what to pack, and never hesitate to offer use of a hot bait. As a guest, I'd hope to be extended the same courtesy.)

I always hang my used lures to dry, but wet storage for a a few hours certainly won't hurt them.

I take way too many... don't use all...only a few... but that is standard stuff. Ha! I'd say 25 lures, 2 rods, if I go with someone else. Sharpen hooks before use. Store dry.

What BNelson said... I'll take two rods, one long and stiff for bigger heavier stuff, and one smaller one for TW and smaller baits. I'll typically bring two different rubber baits (maybe a Dussa and a Dawg, or two Dussa's), a TW bait, a pair of blades and a jigging bait, like a Bondy Wobbler.
