Location: Duluth, MN | I recently purchased a 2006 Tuffy 1890 that has never seen the water. I have a guy installing a 2010 150 Mercury Optimax with a 25" shaft on it. He said that when he puts it on the anti cavitation plate is 5-6" above the bottom of the hull and that I need a 30" transom. Any thoughts? |

Location: Duluth, MN | I told him to proceed with the installation even though I wasn't there to see it. I know the motor is 25" so I'm not to concerned. Thanks for taking the time to talk to me Steve! |

Location: Hayward, WI | Isn't it fairly common to have the cavitation plate well above the bottom of the V on a deep V hull like these? My cav plate is probably 5 inches higher than the very bottom of the transom on my 1760 too.
Do they even make outboards with 30" shafts? |
