Posts: 285 Location: NE Wisconsin | After seeing the below on Facebook, I see whose mouth is watering. Sounds like they want to winter spear muskies on LSC again! Edited by Johnnie 6/15/2016 4:27 PM Attachments ---------------- image.jpeg (370KB - 653 downloads)

Posts: 1209 | So if the two CO's missed the memo that there are not to many muskies why would the want to "lift the ban on spearing them"? Doesn't that mean harvest will begin?

As someone said, the COs aren't biologists, and they're not necessarily plugged in to the DNR Fisheries Divisions plans and views and strategies. But I'm sure the COs encounter lots of walleye and perch and crappie fishermen who catch the occasional accidental muskie (or have a muskie lunch on a fish they just hooked!) and then claim their catch is down because muskies are eating all their fish. The MI Darkhouse guys then point and claim they should be allowed to spear, flying in the face of science and sound biological practice in abundance to the contrary, as presented by the MDNR and Muskies Inc. And so it goes, on and on... a never ending, vicious circle.

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Chemi is on point. CO's are there to enforce laws. Most aren't biologists, and many bring their personal opinions into their work. Most do a good job of not doing so, but some don't. They don't get briefed on every natural resource issue, they enforce the laws on the books.

Posts: 431 | The "musky's ate all my perch/walleye" argument is extremely hot here around LSC. I hear it all the time at the launches, tackle shops, local message boards, ect. I was at the DNR seminar referred to in the facebook post, and much of the seminar was explaining with scientific data that there were not too many muskies in the lake. The darkhouse guys were their and a bunch of old timers screaming about how the dang slimy muskies were killing all the fish that they like to kill. I have to give the Darkhouse Association guy in the facebook post credit for not skewing the information from that seminar to support his interests. Edited by tackleaddict 6/16/2016 8:42 AM

Posts: 538 Location: northern indiana | Do they not realize the numbers of pike in that lake?? Pike will kill out of aggression. Muskies just eat. Maybe I'm wrong???

Posts: 1529 | definatly not what we want to see. being on the canadien side of the lake,we hope that suggestion gets squashed. darkhouse folks need to realize the eco-system first. the I wants are skewed in philosphy
