I have the Hero 4 Sliver. When running a looping video is their a way to stop the recording with out writing the last 5 clips to your SD card. Every thing I change a battery or shut off the camera I get 5 unwanted clips on my SD card.

Thanks

Pretty sure you can just go in on the camera and delete the last 5 segments

Use an external battery pack and then you can avoid the battery changing! I hate stopping to swap batteries in the middle of fishing.

The GoPro is breaking that loop up into smaller segments in order to keep the file sizes manageable and to be able to record over one smaller segment at a time. They call this "chaptering." It guarantees that even as it overwrites the oldest "chapter" that you still have your full loop time of recorded video available. It is not possible to turn this off.

If there's nothing you need to save, just remember to "delete all" as your first action after turning the camera on or changing batteries. It takes about 30 seconds.

Where do you get the battery pack?

Any commercially available "battery pack" that has USB ports (got mine on Amazon for ~$20), then plug in with USB cable to the gopro. I keep the battery pack in my shorts/jeans pocket.

Keep in mind that the big disadvantage of the battery pack method is that you cannot use the waterproof housing.
