I know you don't need to spend much on a musky fly reel but what do u look for when deciding on one? Any suggestions on what I should get.
Thanks

bigger is better. A large spool will pick up more line and coil your line less.
Lamson's are nice for the coin. So are Okumas and Ross.

Check out the Cabela's Prestige line of reels, on sale for about $45 and they work really well, tough to beat for the price.

Something large arbor is all that you'll really need to concern yourself with if price is the biggest issue. The question with fly reels becomes do you intend to use it on any other species (saltwater being the biggest consideration). If you do, then pony up for a reel with a better drag system. Lamson Guru's have a great bang for you buck. A few others that come to mind would be Allen Krakens and Orvis Hydros for the low-mid priced reels.

If saltwater species aren't on your list of things you'll do any fishing for, and you're not picky about weight & looks than another great option would Echo's Ion reel. I believe they're a sub $100 reel and will do the job well.

I use a Ross CLA 5 b/c it really kicks to spin it when you need to retrieve line in a hurry w/a fish on! Spins VERY freely. And you don't really need much drag for these fish, as you likely know. Line management is all.

Scrounge the net this winter for Lamson Guru reels. They are bringing out a new version for 2016 and the old versions are on close out. I just looked at them on Sierra Trading post and they have them for 30% off, that's pretty killer. A 3.5 size would work just fine. I went with size 4 in the HD version for my Muskie rigs though, FWIW.
