I have a Springfield power rise pedestal post that has failed. There's no pressure in the power rise feature. The bike seat simply sits on the bottom position. I can manually pull the seat up but it will not hold. I can by a new one for $125 but am trying to find out if there's a repair available. Any one have this happen and how did you resolve it?
Thanks, JMac

For a temp fix, could you pull it up to where you normally use it and put a screw in the shaft?

another temp fix is to use 2 or 3 hose clamps where you normal extend it.
I was told they can't be fixed.

I tried several fixes before, finally relenting and buying a new one. These pneumatic devices have a very fixed life (in the 5-7 yr range IMO) and really cannot be fixed for anything even medium term.
Best to buy new now and enjoy it. You'll be doing it shortly anyway.

Pull it out where you like it . Take it to a weld shop have them put a bead around the shaft it's done and will last forever

Thank you all for your replies. Guess I'll be purchasing a new one.

Call Springfield; they have replaced two of mine free of charge. At the time the had a 3-year guarantee. Not sure what their current policy is.

Springfield will repair those posts to good as new as long as there isn't severe corrosion on the parts. I've both paid for repairs and have had it done under warranty, each less expensive than a new purchase. I've had 4-5 of them repaired, a couple of them more than once, over the past 20 years. The one caveat is I typically get a different post back than the one I sent in. I'm assuming they are stripping the parts and rebuilding my old one later. Decent company.

Interesting. I've had 4 or 5 king pin power pedestals over the past 20 + years. The first one I had lasted several years. I had a couple replaced by the company without any cost. One under warranty and the other from a misunderstanding we encountered. The last couple seem to last a little over 3 years, just out of warranty. Basically, I have become a little disappointed over their quality.
I was told by one of their managers that they could not repair the hydraulic in the pedestals. Of course, that was several years ago.
I'll have to contact them to see what has changed and what the cost would be to have one repaired. Good to know they can be repaired.
As for now, I have become accustomed to the pedestal kept at the same height.
They do have some scratch and dent products for sale.

Update on my failed Springfield Marine power pedestal. I emailed Springfield's customer service (Kenny).
Long story short...I cost me $28 for round trip shipping and I receive what looks like a new unit. Very
impressed with this company's fast and friendly customer service. FYI, JMac.
