Cooling water temps could also mean more Oxygen in the shallow water. With the exception of weedbeds, shallow water may not have adequate O2 in July/August for large amounts of plankton, minnows and forage fish. Big northwest winds this time of year mix and bring cooler oxygenated water to shallow areas that are less productive when the water is 70+ degrees.
