Location: Merrill, Wisconsin | I'm looking for a rain suit/cold weather suit to work for me from early season walleye on the river here in northern wisconsin, all the way to november 31st musky fishing. I'm looking for something I can take the shell out of or keep it in if its cold. Pants and bibs... I'm about 5'8 190lbs.. Are the frabil f2/f3/f4 suits any good??? Thanks for the help! |

Location: Twin Cities, MN | Just went through this myself as I fish early walleye and then all the way through the end of November / early December based on the weather that year.
I checked out quite a few options, and went with the Striker Ice Climate Jacket.
It has a liner you can take out and go with just the shell jacket so it gives you a few options for different times of year.

| I have the "cyclone" rain suit from Frabil and I really like it. I had the red one from them previous to that, don't know the model, and I sent two complete suits back to them after they leaked the first time out. They must have figured I was serious when I spend $550 on a rain suit and sent me the cyclone suit. Put the thing through hell the last 2 years and it's been awesome. Many of the serious guides around here only run Simms and they won't switch, so that might say something too. I just buy my gear large enough that I can layer underneath it. |

I was just checking into this actually, it seems there are a lot of military surplus rain gear on ebay. Thinking this might be the best bang for my buck! |

| Spend the extra money and get the new Simms ProDry. Amazing suit! Or if you want to be safe, dry, warm and float the Mustang Survival Suit. Hands down the best, they'll last. I've tried on, looked at them all and just love both Simms and Mustang. Pay the extra money and you won't be let down. |

| Over the years I have had Cabellas Guide Wear, Bass Pro 100, Frail and Simms. All are good ... Simms the best. Don't comprise on rain proof for warmth. Buy big enough to layer. |

Location: Ludington, MI | Gander Guidewear. Use it from Lake Michigan brown trout trolling season in March until December steelhead trolling, with lots of muskie fishing in between. Layer. Just buy a Cabela's Windshear vest and wear your favorite sweatshirt when it's cold. Edited to add that my biggest consideration in temperature control isn't in the rainsut, but the footwear. |
