I'm fairly new to the muskie game and this forum has been a wealth of knowledge. My current rig is an NACL61 and a 7'6" TI XH rod, I'd like to add a big rubber combo (pounders) to my arsenal, the rod will be a TI XXH (undecided on length). There don't seem to be many left hand retrieve options out there, right now I'm leaning towards an Okuma Komodo 350 (KDR-364PLX)...I've also thought about the Daiwa Lexa 400, but seems like I read about some mechanical failure issues with those reels. Suggestions for other reels I should check out before making my decision would be greatly appreciated.

If you can find one, Calcutta 401 TE.

If you are willing to spend the money I'd recommend a 401D. Super smooth and more importantly, durable. Some reels may not make it a full season without needing service but you will not have that problem with the 401D.

If you don't want to spend that much...I've been using the high speed lexa 400 for 2 years now and am very happy with it.

Komodo is well worth it and when picking up line on fish slamming and coming towards the boat the extra inch per turn helps a ton.

First would be to try to find a 401TE. I found one brand new buried on the back of the shelf at a small shop and snatched as quick as I could. Call around and see if any shops might have a leftover, otherwise EBay might have something. If not that, my 401D has treated me well. My dad uses a Toro 61 NACL and hasn't had any problems.

Also I just started using a Okuma Citrix 350 in a 5.4;1 gear ratio with a power handle and that seems really nice too,but haven't had enough time on it yet to review.
