How do I get into this? What do I need? Is there a step by step guide somewhere?

Pretty easy to do, I taught myself and keep trying different things as I go along. The last muskie I caught with one had a spoon on the back, far from an original idea but it was my own design and used spoons I have never seen used. They looked so good in the water one of my best friends wanted two for his trip to lotw this past week.

Has anyone used these http://www.muskyshop.com/modules/cart/products.php/nav_id/5/page/3/...
instead of the coil wire? I too am considering making my own bucktails, but will probably wait till the winter to start playing

No if I am not using premade flashabou, I make my round rubber pulled and crimped leader material or a tie strap. Nothad any issues doing it that way.
