| Which knot do you use to tie leader to line?
Which knot to splice lines, for example tie a floro leader to braided line? |

| After my FL experiences I now use braid on my medium weight spinning & casting gear (bass/walleye) with approx 3 to 4 feet of 20# or 15# Seagar Fluoro. I like the leader just long enough to go from hook keeper to first rod guide. I use an Alberto Knot with the fluoro clipping tight on a angle if you can get the clippers in tight. Its tough and goes through the guides well. The musky braid to terminal tackle is either a palomar or improved clinch

Location: 31 | Improved clinch, mono to leader,. I add an extra loop at the swivel for braid to leader to prevent slippage... both are easy, fast, and dependable.

| On bass applications with lighter lines and leaders that are similar size, I use double uni knot. For connecting the heavy super lines to fluorocarbon or hard mono the FG knot is the way to go. The line is woven on the leader and cinches onto it. Kinda like a Chinese finger trap. Either the line or leader will break before the knot will. Never had any problems with it. |

| Bucher Super knot for tying leader to braided main line. It is tricky to snub down, as it binds and you need to keep the tag ends loose when snubbing. Awesome knot. |

| I am a weirdo who uses monofilament main line and tie-able wire leader (toothy critter). So I use a loop to loop connection with perfection loops. My reason for doing this is to avoid any extra hardware such as rings or swivels. |

| Palomar simple and super effective, can tie it in the dark. Tried many others no reason to switch....As for heavy braid to Mono or floro..i don't use it much in freshwater but ..FG Knot is awesome and not too difficult after doing it a few times.. double uni for small stuff like walleye and bass when going from say 10lb braid to 10-20 pound leader material.. but not a good knot with a 130lb leader IMO |

I switched from the improved clinch to the power knot, which as mentioned does bind if you are not careful when you cinch it down. I usually will wet my line before cinching, then lightly pull and spread it, lightly pull and spread again as it works down toward the swivel. Tighten down.
Once done with that, I take the tag end and tie a surgeon's loop which essentially doubles the line for the first 10 inches or so and that knot then becomes a perfect stop for reeling as you go into the figure 8. (I don't cinch my drag down so if a fish hits at boatside, it will pull line out to give me a little wiggle room and save a rod tip from breaking if the fish rolls up in the line.)
braid to mono backing is a double uni. Nice and clean tie
