I followed some plans I found online to make a trolling housing for my GoPro. I took it along on my recent trip to NW Ontario. I never really thought it would actually result in any muskie footage, but I thought it would be fun to mess around with.

WRONG! It took a whole 2 minutes in the water for a muskie to eat the Krave Jr right in front of he camera. Couldn't believe it. He actually followed for over 30 seconds before eating, and he struck immediately after the housing struck a mid lake reef.

Only 32", but probably my most memorable fish.

Cool video. Truth be told I eat my dinner the same way. Circle the table several times.and attack the plate. Initial contact is a little messy, especially lasagna but nobody messes with my food.

30 second follow? WOW! how fast were you trolling? interested in the distance the fish stalked it.

Good question. We were unable to determine our exact speed since we were using a 15 hp Yamaha on a 16 ft camp boat on a fly in lake with no cell service. We figure he started following near the point of an island we had been circling. We then cut across open water to the reef where we hooked him. This is roughly 80 yards. Roughly 80 yards in roughly 30 seconds would be roughly 5 mph. We had never trolled before, so I just let the lure out beside the boat and sped up until the action looked about right and then let out about 75 feet of line. Not exactly straight out of Musky Mikes Trolling Secrets, but we lucked into a fish somehow:)

I Googled "DIY Trollpro" and took the best parts of a couple different designs and put them together. Mine is made of a 4"-3" adapter and 3" PVC as opposed to the 4"-2" and 2" PVC called for in one of the plans. This was simply because I already had some 3" PVC at the house. But I'm sure that 2" would work, too.

The Water Wolf will be available in the U.S. in the fall. No need to buy a housing around a GoPro and it's castable.

Great video by the way.

The ability to cast the camera would be awesome.

The thing that struck me as I just rewatched this video for the first time in a couple weeks was how this fish was following in a very similar manner to all the hundreds of follows we had while casting that week. LOW and SLOW. It took him a long time to commit to eating, and he only did that right as the lure was contacting a rock. If I had known then what I know now, I would've stood on a rock and ended every cast by banging the lure into the rock.

Add hooks and it can double as lure

I shortened the video to eliminate the need to watch 1:25 of a lure wiggling through the water.

Also added some music. Not sure I will keep the music. Thoughts?
