Location: Metro, MN | Looking to finally make an upgrade to a new rig. Im looking for a single console fully loaded brand new rig with a lot of deck room under 40k. I fish big water often, Millelacs, Leech, Cass, Vermillion so need a boat that can handle big water easy. Unfortunately a new Ranger is well out of budget.
Currently looking at an alumacraft competitor 185.
Anyone have an recommendations? |

Location: Hayward, WI | I think I would be pricing out a Tuffy 1890 or possibly the bigger Recon boat. Don't know much about Recon but they have a nice layout, and I think are priced below many other fiberglass boats. |

| Love my Skeeter WX 1850. Under 40k is pushing it however fully rigged but whats 3 more K when you get to that point.
Great for big water and user friendly on smaller water. |

| If you're set on new, its going to be tough to find a "big water" glass boat for under 40K. I'd look at G3 boats. I have always ran Lunds, but you can get a lot of boat for the money with the G3. There are some dealers in your neck of the woods. |

Location: Minnesota | I bought my mx 1825 in Dec 2011 paid just over 31 k. 2 1198s I pilot link and a Just encase rear deck Box .I have under 37 k in to my boat . If you pay over 40 k for a mx loaded your shopping in the wrong places

Location: Colgate, WI | I'd look hard at the used market. Lots of good buys to be had, especially with a $40K budget. A couple of years back I got a 6 year old Pro-V for $26K and since have probably added $5K in electronics, trolling motor and would be way under your budget.
Swallowing that initial depreciation was too much for me and I got a boat I otherwise could never afford new.

| I liked my 2013 Lund 1875 Impact/150 Merc 4 dorker. It was under $40,000. I wanted a single counsel but couldn't find one and didn't wanna wait. Sold it for the Esox Mag.

| You may want to consider looking at a Larson. The 20 footers would be more than you budget, but pretty sure you could get into an 18 footer. |

Location: Ft. Wayne Indiana | I sold my 2014 Tuffy 2100 for $37,900. Fully loaded, 105 lb trolling motor, 4 31 series agm batteries, HDS 10, cover, new seats, new carpet, etc.... Best riding glass boat I have ever been in. I will be selling my 2015 at the end of the season as well. Can't beat the price, size, goodies, etc....most other 2014 20-21 ft glass boats are for sale for well over $50k.

Location: davis,IL | Priced a Competitor 185 last year 150 4strk merc 6 hp kicker on a heritage trailer for $28k at cabelas in Indiana. Almost bought it, it was layed out a lot like my old 03 crestliner 1750, but with better factory storage. The crestliner is paid for and quite modified with expanded storage and extended decks. So at least for the time being I'll stick with my crestliner, but I liked the alumacraft as well. |

Location: minocqua, wi. | perfect example of why you should buy used from Hulbert above ... too much value in finding a good used rig when spending that kind of money!
here is another example of what you can do if you are creative and like to shop around. find an old Ranger 690 or Champion Fish Hunter and restore it.
i got my 690 for $8k, ran it as is for a couple years as i got it and then re-powered with a brand new 5 year warranty 175 pro-xs. added electronics for about $3500 and am all in for about $21,500 with the trade from the original motor. there are a lot of people doing this and if you want to go see some really nice ones and also see how folks are working together to help those wanting to do it ... see our group on Facebook. as a group we have the numbers pretty well figured out and the whole group is pretty quick to find boats that hit the market. you have to be fast to get one, but it's a great alternative to buying less for more on the new market. i'll be putting another $2k into a glass restoration, but based on the replacement value of buying a new or used in this case ... it's really easy to justify.

| I've been in a couple guide boats that run the Skeeter MX 1825... but as I looked at the layout it seems to have a smaller front deck and larger cockpit than what I would prefer. And those that run it, how does it handle rough seas? The days I was out in it was fairly calm. I've heard mixed reviews on its handling of medium/larger waves...but then hear a lot of positives of softer rides with Tuffy, Nitro, Larson... |

Location: Uxbridge Ontario | Really. No one mentioned Lund Predator 2010.
I absolutely love mine. Only thing that it could be better at is in the wind. But handles huge waves with ease, super dry ride, 58-60mph with a 225hp and the front deck is larger than my buddies 21ft ranger bass boat.
Looks like they stopped making them though

Location: Kingston, Ontario | For dirt cheap under 15k get a restored CC off a saltwater board. Big water is obviously relative but if you really want a good cheap rig for the biggest water that is where to go. |
