Do any of you guy reinforce the face and lip area of your lures to help protect against collisions with rocks and stumps etc. I was thinking of adding a coat of 2-ton epoxy to the whole face all the way to the back of the lip for some deep divers I'm making. I wonder if that will even help if you hit a rock trolling at 4 or 5 mph. This is why I really admire guys who have mastered thru-wire lure construction. They can break, but the lure's hooking hardware still holds together.
Anybody?

I don't think it's worth it. As long as you have a good slot for the bill and get even epoxy on it when you install it , the weak point will be the lip itself. With a standard 1-8" lip it real doesn't matter , if it hits rocks at speed it's broke. IMO

Thanks to one of my best friends on this site, all of my 8" and larger cranks are all made with 3/16" Polycarbonate. I save the 1/8" for 6'and smaller and for very shallow runners.
