We had a similar issue with our Lund Impact roller trailer. We solved it completely by adding a set of 3' carpeted bunks so they 'grab' the bow as it loads and holds it enough when unloading it doesn't become dangerous to be holding the launch rope. Worked like a charm. Amazon was the source for the brackets and bunks, took about a half hour to install.
