Hasn't been my experience.  I have had three generations of evinrude outboards:   
 150 Intruder, 135hp BRP era "Ficht",  60hp Gen1 etec.  They all ran flawlessly for me.   I know people that put thousands of hours on Gen 1 etecs.  The Intruder, (the oldest, a 1996)  is still my main outboard.   When they went away from the Gen 1 etec is when they lost me.  The G2, in my opinion, is just too much tech crammed into something in an industry  that is trending towards  more reliable,  higher hp, 4 stroke motors.   Looks like when it comes time to re-power,  Ill be switching brands.  Im sure the current pandemic has had an impact on BRP's bottom line.  Evinrude may be a casualty of that too.  I wish all the employees good fortune if they are indeed out of work.  They built an excellent product  as far as I am concerned.[/QUOTE]
