I was always under the assumption evinrude was poor quality like dodge as that is the narrative online. Feel bad for the employees, aren't they going to be manufacturing something else though?

Our experiences at the tournaments across the country indicate the Evinrude outboards after the Ficht were well built, powerful and fast with good fuel economy. The anglers we know well were very happy with them. I'd say there was no more incident of issues than with Yamaha or Merc.

I run a Tundra, which has been a good truck, and Keith has had 2 Dodge RAM models over the last few years with good luck to date.

This is what I was thinking and have experienced as well. After the Ficht technology which had i's issues (just like any new technology does...gotta get the bugs worked out) and BRP took Evinrude over, The Etec engine has been phenomenal!! I fell in love with mine almost immediately and since I have owned it (and the previous owner who purchased it in 2011) have had no issues at all. Its quiet, starts on half a turn of the key, self stores, and had a warranty that was one of the best in the business.

Also ran Ram for many years. Had a first generation Hemi from 2003 and the only issue I had other than normal mechanical issues was an exhaust valve spring that broke just after 5 year warranty was out. I ran that truck for 10 years, putting over 245000 miles on it with simple oil changes and an occasional front hub replacement. Went to a 2500 with Cummins diesel and the only issue with that was a double-knuckle universal joint going out. Rock solid vehicles!!

I can only hope that BRP would allow another company to pick up the Etec Line, but I doubt that will happen. It's a solid, fast power-plant.

Steve
