Subject: Starboard vs PVC

Location: Athens, Ohio
I got the transducer bracket for my HDS unit and my Structurescan module. The directions say, for aluminum boats, to put a piece of marine grade starboard between the hull and the stainless steel bracket to prevent corrosion. I can't find starboard locally, Lowes had a 1x4 piece of PVC trim that looks like it may work? I'm guessing the pvc won't rot, any drawbacks to using it? thanks, m
