I have had problems with my ETEC power trim. I have replaced 3. The first one I paid for, but the other two were replaced under warranty. I thought my failures were related to cold weather as well. But some service guys I talked to said they had them fail right out of the box in summer weather. Seemed like the last two failures I had were in cold weather when I trimmed the motor down for the night as to make sure all the water got out. Next morning- in both cases- the seals were leaking. Once they started leaking my motors never would stop. Mine is a 90HP and it sounds like some of the models have OK trims while others fail quite often.
