Here's what I did after an unfortunate incident involving a 5 gallon bucket of eater sized pike that decorated the inside of my boat with excrement:

1. Hosed it down
2. Sprayed with laundry soap and hot water (I have a sprayer attachment for my compressor, runs about 90 psi)
3. Let soak for 30 min - beer time
4. Hand scrubbed with stiff brush
5. Rinsed until there were no more suds
6. Let sit in the sun for the rest of the day

It was still wet the next day, so I took the shop vac (carpet attachment) to it. Pulled about 3 gal of nasty black water out of it, which was shocking because it didn't look dirty to start aside from the #*#*.

Carpeting looked new when I got done.
