Location: Green Bay, WI		I just bought a Lowrance HDS12/HDS9 combo, with Totalscan, and the one transducer pretty much handles it all. It would appear that it's the same for your Humminbird, according to what I'm seeing here:

As for mounting the transducer, I've seen people do it several ways. I was into (Ranger dealer) Pamp's here in Green Bay last week, and they seem to mount the transducer right ahead of the skeg, on the back of the transom.
