Location: West Central WI | I had a similar issue while running my Humminbird on the starting battery for my 115 Yamaha. During the time when the starter was engaged, the voltage showing on my Humminbird (I selected that as one of the readouts) showed very low and dropped enough to either give me a low voltage beep or kick OFF my Humminbird – never fun when firing up the motor to move to a new spot. My battery compartment is big so I bought and mounted another starting battery which now powers only my Humminbird. It doesn’t get charged during the day but I can run 12 hours and only drop a volt. I charge up the battery by switching cables to the opposite battery every other fishing day, or hooking up a trickle charger at the end of the day. It also serves as a backup starting battery. Maybe not everyone’s solution, but the Humminbird voltage is steady and never an issue with this setup. |
