I have a 1999 620 and i think that was the last year the gas tank was in the bow. And it has 2 separate battery compartments all the way in the back on each side. I have 2 batteries in each compartment so the tank in the bow balances the boat out. I actually don't mind the tank up front...it helps it get up on plane pretty quick. If you have a full tank it does make it more difficult to trim the nose up if you need it but other than that it rides pretty good. Although i have never driven a new hull to compare. I went from a Lund to a Ranger so.
