To Glaucus: tell my friend who is getting the transom replaced on his Lund. His Verado 225 (boat is rated for 250HP) has bent the transom bad enough it needs to be replaced. And that's just from sitting in the garage without a transom saver.

Any transom that bends or breaks sitting still in the garage would have gone straight to hell running in rough water. That's a defect. Is Lund replacing it under warranty? If so, your example doesn't really apply to this situation and I'm just glad no one got hurt.

The transom handles way more pounding and pressure and flexing from the motor in rough waves than it does running down the highway. But hey, if climbing under your motor every time you launch and load makes you feel better, carry on.
