Yeah I was happy that my new boat had locks... Now only after owning it I see how easy it would be to gain access. However Sarasota electronic locks should require a persons to destroy the lid to get in. But it's a 1200 dollar option for me.


This is something I have wrestled with recently. I like the idea of the Lock R Bar but it wouldn't work well with my X-190 and I don't think it would work well with a Lund. The lid locks are just to discourage someone from stealing. I view them as giving me piece of mind when I run into a store while on a trip with the boat attached.

For overnight parking in a hotel or fishing lodge, I cover the boat and put 2 motion detector alarms on the front deck. If someone lifts my cover and starts messing around the alarm will go off in my room. I got both alarms for under $35 at Harbor Freight. I know it is not perfect but it stops me from worrying and lets me sleep well.
