tolle 141 and muskydope are right.
Quality and design are much more important than weld vs rivets. A well built welded hull is much stronger than a poorly built riveted hull and vise versa.

Since you mentioned glass, Stratos, Tuffy, and Recon make boats similar to the Ranger 1780
