i've remodeled a few aluminum boats in my day and the best floor that i could put in was pink foam board in between the ribs (same thickness) and then a layer of aluminum riveted onto the ribs. light and durable. As for coatings, painted floors will eventually lose their paint, truck bed lining works very well but did show some wear and tear but that was alot of abuse duck hunting. I rolled it on myself, then sanded some of it when it dried because it was awfully rough on bare feet. It can be painted also. Carpet is really nice but did not suit my application with these boats being mainly duck boats. My main point is that i stayed away from wood because of the weight.
