Shep got it right....
If you are running maximum load weight then you need to run max pressure.
If you are running less than a maximum load on that tire you need to adjust air pressure accordingly.
I do like others mentioned and watch the way they wear. Wearing the center of the tread indicates overinflated. Wearing the outside edge indicated underinflated. They should wear evenly across the tread.

As for those that think you have to run the pressure at the listed max all the time... not true.
