Seems every year weather throws you a curve. Here in SE WI. Winds have been east for 10 days in a Row. Prediction the next 2 weeks, some sort of east winds. That’s 20+ days of east;( UHG , Most days being light winds 5-10, light!

The lakes here are Trashed. Floating weeds, and moss everywhere !

Lake Michigan water temps jumped 11 degrees to 61, from 50 last week. That’s a lot of water!

Of course, the farmers just planted their Crops, and all this high pressure has produced Zero rain.

Still catching fish, but these east winds have been odd…..Crazy…….Your Thoughts?

Pretty common, used to see it a lot when I lived in Chicago...East/northeast winds would blow the warmer surface water to the IL/WI side of the lake. West/Southwest wind would push that same water over to the Michigan/Indiana side, and cooler water would upwell along the IL/WI shore.. Like you said.. that's a lot of water!

Jumped into the lake one hot early summer day off the concrete between Oak St. and North Ave. and got a rude awakening.. Where the water temp was 68 a couple days earlier, the wind had switched to the southwest, and it dropped back to 51.

It happens on all bodies of water to some extent..

Down here Memorial Day was pretty much an indoor event with 60 degree highs, and a couple inches of beneficial rain..

It got hotter than Hades in the Northwoods in '21, followed by some cold weather that knocked the water temps back down.. I remember not bothering to musky fish that trip..

Last trip up North in 2018 I greeted with a lot of East winds. Vermillion + East Winds = zero Muskies. When I lived in Aurora Colorado by the once famous Tiger Muskie Lake Quincy Res. the wind blow out of the East most the time and on the rare occasions it blow from somewhere else you would get action. May has been very wet in these parts this May and no days in the 90's. I'm a happy guy. (sometimes the 90's start in May and it makes for a long hot summer.)

I launched out of Winthrop Harbor one May and the harbor was 70 degrees east winds for several days. Went back the next week after several days of west wind and it was 55.

Very warm here in Oneida County, saw water temps around 73 yesterday afternoon. But, Kurt's in Minocqua reported wide variation in water temps this past weekend, from 70 on shallow, dark flowages, to upper 40s, low 50s on deep clear bodies of water. Always a variation this time of the year, but not quite that extreme. Weeds are starting to take off. Yesterday casting for musky, was snagging weeds where less than a week ago, no weeds fishing for panfish.

Thought of this post about east winds when out fishing earlier this week. The wind was from the NE and bringing the smoke from the wild fires in Quebec. Nothing like what New York had yesterday but enough when I got in after only about 3 hours on the water that I could smell/taste it. Really feel for folks with things like asthma, etc. in the impacted area. Hope they can get things under control soon.

Had poor air quality alert for 3 days now. It’s been hazy and can smell it also. My throat got pretty scratchy last night. Wish we could get a good rain storm soon. I know the saying goes rain rain go away but this year is an exception.

A couple weeks ago it was pretty bad here, with that said it's been a cool wet spring here it's rained 13 out of the last 15 days.
(it was dry by us yesterday) but my sister was up at my other sisters cabin by Estes Park and got dumped on and the next three days more rainy weather in the forecast. Even with the rain we've had ozone alerts for bad air quality.
