On my one setup i use nanofil and was wondering if there was a braid line that would give me the same casting distance since the nanofil seems to break easier this is my pike rod so i dont want to exceed 20lbs so its still a fight (preferably made in usa)

Power pro superslick V2 or Suffix 131 Gcore are both extremely smooth braids. You should consider beefing up in poundage buddy. Say 30-65lb depending on what its throwing and what your throwing it with. I personally won't drop below 50lb for my multispecies setups.

On my Muskie rigs the lightest is 50# on a jig rod, and 65# on my smallest true Muskie rig 80#or 100# on the rest. However I fish 20# Spider wire on a Med. action spinning rod and 30# on a med. action Bass rod (bait caster).

Oh I see, well your backing test doesn't matter because it shouldn't be leaving your bail. I can't honestly say I've used that size spinner for Large Northernbasskies setups. My smallest spinning combo for that purpose is a Favorite Jackhammer 2500 that I have fully spooled with 50lb. No need for backer on that setup. If your concern is spooling yourself on the cast with a heavier weight test, might I recommend either A:skip the mono backer and do the electric tape method, or B: Only mono back so you only have 1 even coat around the spool.
Maybe I'm blowing smoke with this statement and my memory is wrong, but I'm pretty sure Sworrall uses 30lb for some of his Creature Jig Setups? And that's fine, I imagine he's borderline perfected that presentation. My issue with 30lb is that I've taken multiple guys out on multiple occasions who are bass guys coming from the YouTubers influence with 30lb and watched all of them leave baits in fishes mouths on the hookset. That's 100% on them, 30lb yes should be able to get you muskies to the boat, where I think you run into trouble is not inspecting the line often enough, your going to want to play with your drag throughout a battle, and if your in heavy veg-prey you don't get buried in it.

And yes go with the PP V2. The Stren 131 is smoother but stiffer probably get alot of loops casting it off a spinner I would think.

A suggestion, do a little research on what the surf casters are using. Those guys are all about long distance casting. Kdawg

After several months of things going on im almost ready to get the rod and after that respooling the reel and I come across something showing regular power pro casts better then the superslick

Thank you I actually will try it
I always trust and go to power pro but I am hoping it casts as good as nanofil which as good as power pro that i have used is nano fil is still miles ahead in casting distance hopefully that changes with the max quatro

Long casts can be counter productive when casting something like a Glider. I've been hit at the end of a long cast and the fish comes at you and it's handcuff city.

True but I am usually fishing aggressively and my one spot I shore fish where this setup is an essential the fish are scattered all throughout and need to make enough noise to draw them out.

I would say I am more of a pike fisherman then a muskie though muskie fishing still interest and if you use still make shorter casts with it when necessary.

Yes guy's I feel your pain, when in Colorado I do fish a lot from shore and I understand we have to get out to the fish. Not ideal.

Another vote for maxcuatro. I put 80 and 100lbs maxcuatro on a couple of my musky reels this year and it casts so much better than the reels I have with other lines. The benefit of maxcuatro is that their 100lbs is noticeably thinner than even 80lbs courtland. It is a very coarse line which I like for fishing around weeds because if you rip your rod it will cut right through stuff, which doesn’t work as well with smooth line

Nothing will come close to Nanofil in casting distance. Just need to keep an eye on it... When it starts to fray cut a few feet off and re-tie.

I have Maxcuatro on a couple of my Muskie rigs but lighter tackle 20-40 pound test I use some form of Spiderline.
