| Got this old girl yesterday on Coneses Lake. Those cold water fish sure fight good.

Conesus used to be known for bigger pike (20lbs+) back in the day. If I had to guess, I would say shoreline over development and over harvest, a lot of which occurs during the ice season, has really taken its toll on them over the decades. |

| Hi Todd,
they are 9 I believe, long skinny deep lakes in central NYS. Some are 100's of feet deep mostly lake trout, then several are loaded with a mix of warm , cool and cold water species. In Conesus which is the one that likely has the nicest pike and tigers, im sure someone will say Seneca or Keuka lakes which have a few big pike also but are > 90% lake trout habitat. Once I got a pike at 90', perhaps - likely chasing alewives. . |

| Anywhere you have deep cool/cold water we have a increased chance of large fish for the most part. It's harder to get your lures down deep and of course the fatty deep water forage. And the fish can get away from the warm/hot water in the summer.
And there's probably not as many fish living in a sterile environment but some big ones. |
