I've been trying to get my hands on a 300 5.8:1 for months, and the back order dates keep getting pushed back, everywhere. What's going on with these? The competition doesn't seem to have any issues. Are these being phased out or something?

My buddy bought a 400 at the Musky Shop a week ago and another guy got one at Bass Pro in Bollingbrook IL

Nope, none of those have the 300a once you click down to order. I'm about out of time , so I decided to give a Tatula 300p try.

I own a Tranx 500 PG and 400 and put many miles on Calcutta 400B's before that, with that said if you're looking for a smaller reel and can't find a 300 Tranx try a System 13 A3. Nice reels I have two of them.
