Most all of us have caught Muskies in the figure eight. What else have you figure eighted and caught while musky fishing? I've caught bass, pike and a walleye but the most interesting in the second go round with a double ten a big Dogfish which bit through my glove and would not let go. Water Badgers.

I was bass fishing down in Florida a couple years ago with a guy from Pennsylvania. He mentioned wanting to try muskie fishing, maybe taking a trip to Canada. So I'm explaining a little about follows and figure 8's, and he says: "Does that really work??" so I toss a bait out on front of me and start demonstrating a figure 8, explaining that they often chase a bait all the way to the boat and don't attack it until it appears to be getting away. All of a sudden here comes a bass out of nowhere and it just smashes the bait right in front of me.

I didn't catch it but one of the odder figure 8 fish was a perch about 7" or 8" long came in behind an 8" crankbait. I didn't see what it was at first, just caught a glimpse of something behind the lure. I made several figure 8s and that overachieving perch followed pretty much all the way around. Don't know if it was trying to figure out how to eat something as big as it was or just curious.

Last summer during hot water, I was catching white bass on the figure eight all the time on shad raps! Started a joke, but became an actual thing the more I did it.

Perch are always following my lures when I am bass fishing, but I've only ever caught a couple figure eighting them.

Haven’t caught them in the 8 but I have had schools of 10-20 perch follow in 6-8” crank baits on a certain lake I fish that has a gigantic perch population. I will say I’ve had a lot of perch try to eat musky baits, makes no sense with the bait being bigger than them but it doesn’t stop them from trying

Yup loon chases multiple times. Had to leave a spot once because a juevenille I swear thought I was playing Fetch with a 16" Hawg Teaser. Schools of Giant gills were nipping at our baits on 8's once. I've had river walleye hit after a very long pause after the 8 at night. Only species hooked and landed though has been pike.

I had a loon come in and follow into the L, I didn't continue in the 8 I can't imagine trying to unhook a very aggressive unwilling loon.

I have had perch and shad follow lures and School with them. I have also caught white bass and drum figure eighting shad raps.

Had a salmon follow a spoon all the way to the boat when we were packing up one morning on Lake Michigan. Wish I would have tried a figure eight.

Do turtles count? They're hilarious as they try and fail to catch up to the bait, I wonder why they don't starve. Reminds me of fly fishing for hapless frogs, those buggers all need glasses.

Had an approximate 40" gar follow on the figure 8 in Little Sturgeon a few years ago. Did not catch it though. it did not follow all the way around. Got a good look at it... I did not know they were even up there.

Fishing on a fly-in lake in Canada, we were catching an insane number of pike. In one bay, we simply put our spinner baits directly in the water in a figure-8 and caught a bunch of pike.
