Location: Sakatchewan,Canada | What are your experiences with the largest Whale Tail? ( the 14” model) I only got to use it once before ice up and fishing was slow that day. I did have a strike but I didn’t get the hooks into the fish. Does the big 14” normally have a high hook up percentage with the hooks and split rings it comes with? |

Whale Tail as compared to a Pounder?
I use them is slightly different situations. I generally throw the whale tail when the water is extra cold or the fish are a little sluggish. It rust a little slower than a pounder bulldawg. So when fish are chasing and aggressive I throw the bulldawg, and switch to the whaletail when fish want it slower. Same amount of bite, just different situations.
If you're on the fence about getting one, get off. It's an excellent bait that catches huge fish for me. |

Location: Sakatchewan,Canada | I do have the one in pearl I believe, and the action from the huge tail is amazing. Only got to fish it once before ice up and had the one strike where the fish didn’t get hooked up. I do believe it will be a good producer though, thanks again for answering my questions, I appreciate it! |

My biggest on the whaletail is 52”. I’d post a pic of her now but I can’t from my phone. I lost one right around 50 this year as well. She caught me off guard at the boat and didn’t get a good hook set on it. I’ve caught several other nice fish on it as well. |

Do any of you tweak this lure in any way ?
The only real way to tweak them is to adjust the 2 screw in weights. You can remove them to make them run shallower but I always at least leave the head screw in otherwise it doesn't run very well.
I usually use both weights and they work great right out of the package. |

Location: NW WI | I haven't tried it since I just learned about it two days ago, but you can take a razor and cut the tail into 3rds length wise to give it a totally different presentation. YouTube "Lake X Lures B52" You'll find a Modification video and Demo video by a YouTube called "Angler Sportfishing". It's not the same lure but the tails might as well be. |
