Good morning : Just a question on dedicated trolling reels and line. I know that to get optimum preformance on a casting reel you need to fill it up to maximum line capacity. Does the same apply to a trolling reel.

Thanks Bob

Most Definitely….more accurate in line lengths on meter!

I have heard 1/8th inch from the top of the spool. I don't know if thats accurate or not.

Look up videos on calibrating line counters. Walleye guys do this a lot for consistency. Basically, you measure out 100 ft on the ground and walk line out until the counter says 100 ft. Adjust the line on the reel until the two match. Repeat for all reels.

Penn reels have markings on the spools that help with this. I use Penn squall lwlc 20’s
