The GAUNTLET has been thrown:

Saturday

Me vs. the Old Man (Steve Worrall)

Him - on MAJESTIC Pelican Lake in Oneida County, WI.

Me - on the BEAUTIFUL Fox Chain of Lakes in the wilderness of Northern IL.

The Challenge: head to head, who wins...and the older gentleman is spotting me 12" (hey now).

The bet: loser takes on sucker rigging for a day next fall in the cold and pain of fishing NW Ontario on Eagle Lake out of Andy Myers Lodge on October 30th, 2022!

Who else misses MatchFISHING?

I think whoever catches a fish wins, but just guessing.

At the very least, you will have some unseasonably warm weather here in the northwoods on Saturday.

If you have not fished with Steve Worrall....or if you have....you still may not know that Steve usually fishes with focus and at the pace of a tree sloth on qualudes. BUT, don't let this fool you, when he "fishes angry" it's scary stuff.

Not legally, not for several decades, but still quite an analogy.

I would gladly lose a tournament to set the hook on some sucker fish on eagle.

Yeah, it's obviously going to be a tough battle I will probably lose, but I will give it my all.

To be fair (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jv7jcciKB_s) I pretty much rig and set up all the suckers when I fish with Dad, so this is just me working towards a day of not working.

And when he's up on the sucker, I try to find the pike he loves so dearly.

Oh, PIKE don't count in this contests....neither do catfish or carp, so N.WI vs IL we're kinda even on that.

Does a wiff count as a turn or do they go again? If wiffs don't count how many wiffs are you allowed? Asking for a friend.

Simple answer: the sucker is yours so long as it's alive. You lose it on the hookset, muskie/pike/manic walleye eats it, sucker goes to the next person in line. Or if you catch a fish it's next man up!

Will there be live streaming or can we register to get text updates during the competition?

I actually could do that from my boat with a pic in pic Aqua-Vu deployed as well/ Slamr, not so much.

I lost a nice one at the boat on a creature. No other action from muskies.

I too blanked. One late follow that gave me the flip off.

My greatest victory though was not wasting $35 on suckers. Go me!

I didn't buy any suckers either, seemed like a lot of money and would have had to travel a bit.

Yeah it sure does suck when you buy them at $10 plus a crack, get to the lake and a couple are floating before you even get on the water. I rigged a cooler with a battery operated aerator. Put a hole in the cooler lid, made a bracket for it, cost me about $30. Probably could make it cheaper if you got the cooler at a yard sale vs the store. Sure has helped.

To be fair, he did write "younger"...
