Do most of you run 60” or is 72” needed?

I do fish mostly inland lakes, but plan to go to Canada once the border issue is resolved. LSC is also in the cards, but one to two trips per year only.

60" is the best all-around shaft length for a 620 imo. There are times when a 72" comes in handy, but that's just a few times per year for me on big water/waves.

I run a 72 on my 619 and have fished waves that pulled the prop out when deployed in the fully down position. A 60 would pull out that much quicker. Honestly having a 72 does no harm whatsoever, go longer you’ll not regret it. Go shorter and you will. Like beer, it’s better to have too much than not enough. Easy decision.

Disagree, 72” is a LOT of trolling motor in the way when not needed. Also remember when in shallow water there is that much more motor head sticking up which gets in the way while working gliders and twitch baits etc. I ran a 60” Ulterra on my 620 without any issue, and if the waves are big enough to pull the prop out of the water, I don’t want to fish in that crap anyway!

One other point here; If you have a kicker you don't need a 72". When the wind is really howling, and the waves are big, I just start my kicker and put it in gear to help the t.m. out. No waves are too big for this approach, I head straight into them. I have a 60" and a 72" f.w.i.w.
