This has been probably discussed over and over again. Sorry. Couldn't find the information.

TI XH for MagDawgs - can they handle them, ~9 oz. or should I step into the XXH or something similar. MagDawgs is a big as I will go. At least for now.

Thanks in advance. Sorry for the repeat.

I have the 9' TI XXH and it throws Mag Dawgs great, but can't help you with the XH. I know my Okuma 8'6" XH was not really up to the task.

I switched from the XH to XXH for mag dawgs...just easier to cast 'em.

The xh will work but the xxh does a much better job.

From a rod building perspective, something I tell people asking that question... If you are going to feed the rod a steady diet of 8-9 oz baits, you don't get one rated up to 8 oz. You are asking for trouble if you do. Always step up to the next higher weight range. It will be easier on the rod, and you.

As stated by others above, and for myself, the TI XXH throws Mag Dawgs much better than the XH.

I have multiple XH and XXH’s , 90% of the time for mags I grab the XH, I think it keeps them pinned better, casts better too it’ll actually load a little ... and if you plan to throw stuff lighter than mags which it sounds like you will, XH for sure... you obviously need XXH for pounders but I personally hate throwing rods that are overly stiff for the application
