Looking to buy some bulk 2x2 cedar, and possibly some misc other sizes.

Anyone have a good supplier?

Check this link out and see how it looks. It says 2 x 2, but it also says actual dimensions are slightly smaller.

None of the box stores close to me have any 2x2 (1.5x1.5). And i am hoping to find actual 2x2. I ordered some before from a wood turning place its just expensive as its piece by piece

Look for a local sawmill in your area and check with them, it might be bigger but with table saw no problem

Not the cheapest route, but I buy cedar 4x4's at Menards and cut them down to the sizes I need on my table saw. It takes me a while sometimes to go through them and pick out the best pieces with fewer knots and a tight grain pattern.

maybe find a fence company or outdoor builder. I buy cutoffs of beams from a contractor who uses western red cedar exclusively and procures the best of the best lumber. Often old growth.

Something to consider is Alaskan Yellow Cedar. It is much more expensive than white or red cedar, but is much denser, stronger and typically has much straighter grain. Also the most resistant to rot of any cedar. Sellers typically have smaller pieces, advertising it for turning. Really great stuff. I have seen carvings done with it. The natives of Alaska used it for totems because of its durability.
If you can't find it thick enough, use exterior wood glue to laminate thinner pieces to form the thickness you want. Wood turners use this technique.

generally turn 8-12" lengths however any length i can cut down is fine. Biggest thing for me is getting actual 2" x 2"

I did pick up some AYC...it is very nice wood to work with. I am curious to test it vs. WRC. I built a couple of topwaters with it now need to find some open water lol

You got a better shot at 1 3/4" X 1 3/4" than 2' X 2" That I could help you with White Cedar
